What Are the Steps to Owning a Hallmark Store?

  • Meet our Market Development Specialist: A Hallmark employee will engage in a more in-depth discussion to assess your background/experience and provide you with a more comprehensive understanding of the Hallmark Franchise opportunity, as well as the costs and terms associated with build-out and ongoing operations.
  • Schedule a Discovery Day: This is a chance for you to visit a current Hallmark store, tour the location, meet a current franchisee, and learn about our brand and team.
  • Consider Location: Work together with our Market Development Specialist and our tenured real estate broker to identify and pursue the right location for your franchise and negotiate the best terms possible for a profitable enterprise.
  • Complete our Franchise Application: Once you’ve decided that you’d like to pursue becoming a franchisee, our Market Development Specialist will partner with you to complete the formal application process, including pulling together financial projections so that there is a clear line of sight to investment and outcomes.
  • Meet our Senior Management & Gain Financial Approval: Meet with Hallmark’s senior retail team to assess business fit; at the same time, our finance team will review your application to confirm you can financially support the business moving forward.
  • Finalize Contract: Once our senior retail team and financial department have given the green light to proceed and you have a line of sight to a suitable franchise location, Hallmark will draw up the Franchise Agreement and work with you to finalize our partnership.
  • Open Your New Hallmark Store: Mark will partner with you every step of the way to manage store design, place initial product orders, and get your store set up and ready for opening day! He will also transition you to your dedicated Business Development Specialist, who will continue to support you in your go-forward operations.
