Want to help the kids create something that will make Dad smile? Check out the designs below!

While we totally get it if you want their work of art to be a fun surprise, we think colouring is a great family activity. Here are some ideas to make it fun for everyone:

  • Get prepped. Stock up on crayons and markers beforehand, so no one has to wrestle for the same shade of Dad’s favourite colour.
  • Set the table. Slip a Father’s Day colouring page under everyone’s breakfast plate, encouraging everyone to linger at the table for a relaxed start to the day.
  • Switch it up. Set a timer for a few minutes and pass colouring pages around the table every time it dings. You’ll end up with pieces the whole family has poured love into!
  • Add a sweet message. Have kids write a special message on the back before giving it to Dad, so it’s still a surprise.

We love anything that makes a card envelope feel extra special. So we included some banners and badges to colour, cut out and attach to his Father’s Day card envelope. You could also print the badges out on card stock, colour them, and make Dad a wearable button for his Father’s Day celebration!

Tips for shading

Want to try your hand at shading? We’ve got pretty great artists here at Hallmark, and they’ve got some pretty awesome advice to take your colouring game to the next level.

  • Simplify. Keep things from getting visually overwhelming by limiting colours to just two or three options.
  • Go monochrome. Pick a few shades of the same colour (example: pink, dark pink and light pink).
  • Be complimentary. Pick three colours that are next to each other in the rainbow, like green, blue and purple.
  • Under pressure. Use different amounts of pressure to create darker areas, lighter areas and blend different colours.
  • Try pointillism. Use markers to make dots of a darker colour (orange) to create shading on a lighter colour (yellow). Look at you being all artistic!

What to do with Father’s Day coloring pages when they’re done

FD Coloring Pages 3

If Dad isn’t there for the kids to pass their work of art to, no problem! We’ve got some ways surprise and delight him with their finished Father’s Day colouring pages.

  • Tuck it into a card. We’ve got cards for every kind of dad. The hardest part will be choosing which one he’ll love the most.
  • Wrap his favourite treat with it. If it’s something refrigerated, just be sure to wrap that treat in plastic first, so your colouring page doesn’t get soggy.
  • Wrap his gift with it. If his Father’s Day gift is on the small side, use the colouring page to wrap it. Whether you keep the coloured part on the inside or the outside is up to you! You could also slip it into a gift bag with your Father’s Day gift.

Whatever you do with your Father’s Day colouring pages, we’re 99.99% sure the dads or father figures in your life you give them to will give you a big bear hug as a thank you in return.
